courage - her sunday ritual

You can choose courage, or you can choose comfort, but you cannot choose both
— Brené Brown

this weeks' ritual:

COURAGE \ ˈkər-ij mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand fear, or difficulty.

Has fear ever stopped you from doing something or made you uncomfortable in a situation? Have you ever thought “I wish I could do that but…”, then listed a plethora of reasons why you couldn’t? We’ve all been there, one time or another. For most, our fear stems from the uncertainty of the unknown, of not knowing what the outcome will be.

Last week, we worked on being present. Use that as the foundation of this week’s intention of courage. Stop worrying about the future or what will happen if. Focus on the present to help guide you in stepping outside your comfort zone and being brave.

this weeks' ritual:

Try something new. It doesn’t have to be jumping from a plane or swimming with sharks (but if that’s your jam, go for it!). We want you to do something you’ve never done before, something that’s just (or way) outside of your comfort zone. Go to dinner solo. Spark a conversation with a stranger. Take a new fitness class. Be emotionally present and assess each feeling that occur throughout the activity. Uncomfortable? Acknowledge and let go. Scared? Welcome it and send it off. You’ll not only learn something new, but you’ll develop an emotional presence that you can use in any new situation.

your mantra

I am not afraid of my fear.

I can, and I will.

yours to ponder

What’s something you’ve always wanted to do, but never have? What stops you from trying something new? How will you get out of your comfort zone today and the rest of the week?
