recharge - her sunday ritual

The time to relax is when you don’t have time for it.

RECHARGE \ (ˌ)rē-ˈchärj \ to regain energy or spirit; to inspire or invigorate afresh

Ever had one of those days where you’re so busy plowing through your work that you forget to eat? Where you’re connected 24/7, to your emails, phone and computer you forget what it’s like to not stare at a screen?... *Slowly raises hand*.

Unsurprisingly, a lot of us are guilty of this.

Yet, the benefits of taking a break to recharge are incredibly beneficial. Taking that time off, whether it’s 5 minutes, an hour or a week, is vital to our mental and physical health. On top of further developing personal effectiveness, it :

So whether you work from home or in an office, take the time to step away from what you’re doing. Let your mind relax. Embrace the downtime to be able to come back stronger.

Your Sunday Ritual - Schedule your week with time-blocks.

ritual time commitment: 6 minutes to 1 hour. 6 minute video at least, 54 minutes left of your sunday ritual to time-block your week.

Time blocking allows you to be more realistic about the time you have, spend less time deciding what to do, and more time focusing on the more important things. It also allows you to visualize if you are actually giving yourself anytime to recharge!

Look at your calendar for the week ahead and make a list of tasks that need to be done. Organize your to-dos based on priority and importance, being mindful of any upcoming deadlines. Then, plug away. Block off chunks of time dedicated to one on or two of these tasks. By doing this, you’ll be able to incorporate “off” time, where you can step away from your work, go for a walk, eat something and reset for the next block of work.

Make sure each day you are scheduling time to ‘recharge.’ Also, after taking the time to timeblock today, now you can truly sit back for the rest of your sunday and recharge when you schedule time for the important things (including recharging) all week.

To get started, here is a great and short video that we ourselves used to to start time-blocking that is only 6 minutes long. Watch how-to video on time blocking here (6 minutes)

Throughout the week, we also recommend taking a couple minutes every hour to stand up and move, then taking a more substantial break of 45 minutes or more (to eat, work out, etc.) at least once during the work day. Want to take it a step further? Set an alarm to remind you!

your mantra for recharging this week

I give myself permission to recharge, relax, rest and enjoy.

Yours to ponder:

Am I giving myself permission to recharge? Or am I running on empty? How would my productivity benefit if I ensure I recharge my own ‘battery?’ What can I do to recharge in this moment, in this hour, in this day?
